Thursday thinkin’ about fast laps
by Charlie Turner
I'm Charlie Turner co-host of the syndicated, mostly NASCAR radio show On Pit Row. Thanks for stopping by OnPitRow.com and the Bench Racing with Steve and Charlie blog. Oh yeah, Steve is an idiot.

Not a bad start for week one of the Fast Lap on the net. We still have some bugs to work out, but all in all–OK. The questions may have been a little lame. That would be my bad. Too many answers on the same side of questions. We’ll try for better this week.
If you have a suggestion, or four, for next week’s four corners, fire away.
Meanwhile, do you think that this could be a break-out race for Toyota? Brian Vickers, Dale Jarrett and Michael Waltrip are all past winners here. Personally, I like Vickers chances.
And can Tony Stewart or Dale Earnhardt Jr. put the off track distractions of the last few weeks asside and get their first win Sunday?
Will it rain? It never rains in Talladega–does it?

For Jr. I wouldn’t really call it a distraction. After all, what’s the “worst” that can happen? Not renewing at DEI and taking over Dad’s ride? Wow, that’s tough. Quite the safety net, really.
Stewie’s another deal though. After he screws up he’s usually good for stripping off a couple durability tests of the local fencing material.
Granted, he’s snowballing at the moment so who knows.
I agree with you Luke. Stewart seemed to be spiralling downward until he had a long talk in the NASCAR trailer before practice this week at Dega. Now he says hes sorry and acting all contrite. Will the real Tony Stewart please stand up.
