Mark Martin at MIS

Jeff Gordon gets the rain shortened win at the Pocono 265 with Rocket Ryan chewin’ on his heels at the final yellow flag.  The Hendrick Motorsports juggernaut continued in the hills of Pennsylvania.

Those HMS drivers haven’t faired all that well at the lightning fast two miler in Michigan’s beautiful Irish Hills.  In the last ten years, only Jeff Gordon is a winner, twice, for the Hendrick teams.

Ryan Newman has been about as hot as a driver can be for the last month and is a two time winner at M.I.S.  Roush pilots Matt Kenseth and Greg Biffle are multi-time winners and always good on the two mile tracks.  Kasey Kahne, Mark Martin and Kurt Busch are past winners as well.

We’re following three flat, wet corners with four high banked fast ones.  Hold on.

1)  Should NASCAR consider using rain tires at its flat tracks and road courses?

2) Rumors have Dale Jarrett trying to get out of his contract with Michael Waltrip Racing.  Where might he go?

3)  Is it about time for NASCAR to throw a “competition yellow” at Hendrick Motorsports?

4)  Grade Kyle Petty after his first week in the TNT booth?

What? No Dale Jr. questions?  How are we gonna argue about….. never mind. I have faith in ya’all.  Put your thoughts up and be ready to defend them - and counter attack of course. This is The Fast Lap and we want to feature you - the good you and the bad you - ON PIT ROW this week.

Man, what a week. All this Jr. stuff and I’m leavin’ for MII at 6 ay em. I guess I get to start this week.
    1. Personally, I love races in the rain. That’s when you really get to see car control. I can see the road courses, as they planned a few years back. But that long fast straight at Pocono is just to scary I think.

    2. I posted about this at the Benchracing WST blog. I don’t get this one at all. Where do you think he’s gonna go? Roush is full (and they’re all good and young) Wood Bros. has 3 drivers for 1 car and Elliots provisionals. Back to Yates. No. Why would he switch Toyota teams and have to break his contract? Dumb.

    3. I’m surprised that Chevy hasn’t been dumbed down already. 13 out of 14 wins? Take their spoilers away. Oh, wait. Gordon AND Eranhardt drive Chevies. Sorry. I retract.

    4. Nice job. Let’s see, and hear some more. Rusty’s struggles make the smooth transition of Kyle and DJ, look that much better. I want to like Wallace, but it hurts.

Got something to say?
